Client Success Story: CoE Cancelled, Visa Running Out. Leo’s Journey to a Master’s Degree

The path to an Australian education isn’t always straightforward and this is exactly what happened to Leo, an international student whose academic aspirations appeared shattered after his Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) was cancelled.

Let’s read Leo’s story to see how he struggled in dealing with the cancellation of the CoE even though his student visa was still valid.

Leo, a student at a major Sydney university pursuing a master’s degree in information technology (IT), had a difficult year ahead of him in 2020.

His studies were severely hampered by mental health issues and financial hardships, which resulted in failing grades and put his student visa in jeopardy.

This is when our support for Leo began.

We applied for a Master of IT at the first university but were turned down because the applicant didn’t match the GTE requirements.

We then assisted in applying to three more colleges, but even with updated financial documentation, refusals were made because of the GTE.

The process took almost a year since uni admissions were slow due to COVID-19 restrictions. Lucky immigration did not cancel the visa along the way.

Until it came to the point where the client’s visa is only valid for another month.

In this injury time, our RMA performed an assessment and advised the client of his option, which is to consider enrolling in a Diploma of IT, which is good for him to gain confidence of studying in Australia from its smaller-size classes, and apply for a new student visa under the VET stream.

Leo was able to get accepted into a Sydney college’s IT Diploma program. We also started his student visa application over again.

Leo’s efforts paid off in 2022 when his visa was approved and he successfully finished the Diploma program.

Client became more confident, so he asked us to enrol him in a Master of IT since he felt more ready.

We made one application to a uni in Sydney, this time the client has a Diploma of IT qualification where he could show that he, despite previous failure, could change and had successfully completed an Australian study without any difficulty during his Diploma, and got the client approved.

Leo is working hard to earn his master’s in IT right now. Leo’s journey was undoubtedly complicated, but in the end, a successful ending was made possible.

Moral of the story: never lose your confidence when faced with failure, it may not be your time to thrive yet, but with education ONE, we will make your dreams come true at the right time.
